Salesforce.com has taken it on the chin the last few months for a series of outages, most recently an outage in North America on February 9th. The significance of the outages has also been a topic of considerable debate in the blogosphere, but suffice to say an outage of any magnitude is a problem on some level.
This week, salesforce.com launched an online status page [http://status.salesforce.com/] which shows a real-time dashboard of key performance metrics across each geographic area. For a company with as much buzz [and Wall Street scrutiny] as salesforce.com, to put its uptime and reliability out there for all to see [you don't need to be a registered user to view the status dashboard], is a gutsy move and one that even the most ardent critics can't deride.
Note: At the time of this writing, I and/or funds I maintain discretionary control over did not maintain a long or short position in CRM.
