Eleven years as a couple, six years of marriage, two children, umpteen birthdays and holidays and I've finally done it. I forgot my anniversary. How do I make up for that? How do I explain that life just caught up with me; I got caught in the maelstrom of everyday life?
Cards?
Flowers?
Begging?
Hmmmm, kind of seems like overkill all to APPEASE MY BLOG...
That's right folks, I didn't forget my wedding anniversary. I'm still very much in Mrs. Woodrow's good graces. The heart I've broken is The Ponderings of Woodrow. It was October 16th a year ago when I first hit SAVE on my Typepad blog. A 136-word, two paragraph introduction to the blogosphere that paid homage to my favorite author, Douglas Adams.
It seems that having just returned from a week in California and then jumping head first into earnings season caused me to completely miss the one-year mark of bloggerhood. But presuming Ponderings will accept my belated "Happy Anniversary" greeting, it's time to celebrate and reflect on an absolutely fantastic first 369 days.
So let's tally:
- 317 posts
- Dozens of compelling new friendships and professional contacts
- The creation of the Enterprise Irregulars
- Hundreds of loyal subscribers
- A refined understanding of the key drivers behind enterprise software trends
Not a bad haul for one year. To those of you who read blogs but don't write one, I can honestly say you're missing out on the real value of social software. Sure consuming information from the blogosphere has value. In fact, I'm finding it's become my preferred/primary source of information across most disciplines. But by actually putting yourself and your ideas out there, becoming part of the conversation, you'll receive exponential returns both professionally and personally.
Happy Anniversary Blog! I promise not to forget next year.
cute!
keep it up...and learn to keep up with old farts like Dennis and me...we are at over 1,000 posts each -)

Congrats on the milestone. I'm 368 days, 316 posts, and from what I read on The Ponderings of Woodrow quite a lot of deep thougths behind you (as a fellow Douglas Adams fan I might also say that I'm not quite the hoopy frood that you appear to be). But I've started. I like the new Enterprise Irregulars logo too, and frequent as many of the sites as I can (or rather, have FeedDemon frequent them for me). It's a sharp crowd, and my regular mind struggles to keep up, but let's just say for now that I have aspirations of one day being irregular myself.
